Sevilla Restaurants

There are hundreds of restaurants and tapas bars in Sevilla.
Listing even half of them would drive you crazy, so the
following lists contain some of the highlights.

Tapas

Sevillanos love to tapear or go out for tapas.  The small portions of food range from seafood to salads, to eggs, poultry and ham.  The word tapa means a cover and the term is thought to have been derived from bartenders putting small plates on top of the wine glasses to keep the flies out.  Then by placing a small piece of meat or cheese on top of the plate the tapa was born.  Our comprehensive list tells you whats what and why they dont cut the heads off the shrimp.

Local Cuisine

When your appetite demands a meal heartier than just tapas, head to one of the many restaurants or bodegas for some traditional Spanish fare.  Typical recipes seem to place great importance on hanging hunks of meat on the walls so you can see what you are about to consume.  Vegetarians might be a little turned off, but locals seem to get a kick out of it.
